MCTC collaborates in Phandeeyar’s Game Development Challenge


Game Development Challenge is a joint event by Phandeeyar: Myanmar Innovation Lab and MAGES Creative Technology Centre (MCTC), an education institution from Singapore which is based in Yangon that provides high quality tertiary level coaching and skill-set for the game designers, animators, and creative computing experts and Save In Your Brain Entertainment, a game development and entertainment company.

Game Development Challenge is an event that gathers professional and beginner game designers, programmers, and artists for 8 days of inspiration, and networking for the game development community. The 8-day event, which was held from 18 November until 25 November, gathered participants, who were primarily between 18 to 21 years old, from Myanmar’s tech, creative, and game developer communities to come together at Phandeeyar and work on creating their very own game.


Over the 8 intensive days, participants worked in teams of 5 people to conceptualize, design, and code their game. Building on 47 participants, 11 teams were formed and worked together to refine their ideas and develop game designs.

At the Game Development Challenge, MCTC provides Pre-Game Development Logic workshops for the participants including knowledge sharing sessions by Nanda Ye Aung and Do Shine, the valuable lectures of MCTC and CEO of MCTC, Nae Myo Aung Khing also involves as a speaker for Game Design and from the perspective of producer as well. These workshops last for 60 minutes to 90 minutes.

Besides, MCTC also supports Unity Assets Packages, which worth up to 500$, for convenience of the participants.

Partner company of MCTC, TAG company sponsored 5 packs (60 bowls) of Vietnam No.1 Cung Dinh Noodle, Ready Made Bowl for the developers and participants. For refreshing purpose, TAG also sponsored Wet Tissues.

On 25th November 2017, the Game Development Challenge has successfully organized, and the prizes have been awarded to the winning team. As part of the reward, MCTC provides up to 2 seats for Nanda Ye Aung's very first Advance Game Development Class, which worth up to 300 SGD to 400SGD.
